The Yellow Brick Road Has Never Looked Like This
The 1939 MGM classic that defined American cinema has been reborn inside MSG Sphere — and the word "movie" doesn't come close to covering what happens here. For 75 minutes, you're not watching The Wizard of Oz. You're inside it.
The Sphere's 160,000-square-foot wraparound LED screen — the largest and highest-resolution display ever built — eliminates every border between you and Oz. When the tornado hits, 750-horsepower fans roar through the venue. Your seat vibrates through haptic infrasound technology as Dorothy's world tears apart around her. When the poppy field appears, you smell it. When pyrotechnics erupt in the Wizard's throne room, you feel the heat. Drone-powered flying monkeys move through the air above the audience in actual three-dimensional space.
This is the complete story — Dorothy, Oz, the Wizard, the ruby slippers — with the original vocal performances preserved and the score re-recorded to fully utilize the Sphere's 167,000-speaker spatial audio system. Some portions of the original film have been condensed to fit the 75-minute runtime, but every beat of the story is here. Sound is pinpointed to exact locations throughout the dome. You hear every witch cackle, every lion's roar, from exactly where it should be.

It's the complete story — Dorothy, Oz, all of it — but the runtime is 75 minutes, which is shorter than the original film. Some scenes have been condensed or trimmed to fit the Sphere experience. The original vocal performances are preserved, the visuals are AI-remastered to 16K, and the score has been re-recorded for the venue's 167,000-speaker spatial audio system. Think of it as the definitive way to experience the story, not a shot-for-shot rescreen of the 1939 cut.
Every seat in the open sections is equipped with infrasound haptic technology — the first implementation of this system in a live entertainment venue. The seats emit low-frequency vibrations timed precisely to the film, so you physically feel the tornado, the thunder, and other moments in the story. It's subtle when it needs to be and intense when it doesn't.
The minimum age is 6. All guests including children require a ticket — no lap-sitting. The show includes loud sounds, flashing lights, pyrotechnics, wind, fog, and moving objects in the air above the audience. Most kids 6+ who enjoy the classic film handle it well, but it's worth considering if your child is sensitive to loud or intense sensory environments. The show does not have a quiet section.
The experience includes seat haptics, movement sensations, flashing lights, intense lighting, loud sounds, pyrotechnics, falling and flying objects, and atmospheric simulations including fog, mist, wind, and scent. These elements may aggravate certain medical or physical conditions. If you have any concerns — including pregnancy — consult a physician before attending. The venue advises this directly.
No. This is strictly enforced. The experience begins at the time on your ticket and no late seating is permitted for any reason. Seating opens 30 minutes before showtime — plan to arrive at Sphere 30 minutes early so you have time for the restroom, a drink, and finding your section. The Sphere atrium entry experience begins outside the main dome and is part of the show.
